Be up to date and find out when the blossoms of the apple-and cherry trees are in full bloom…
The highlight on the first weekend of May in Jork
Most visited time in Altes Land
The fruit blossom period is the most popular time for tourists in
Altes Land and rightly so! Every year in spring, Altes Land is
dunked in a sea of pink and white blossoms for three weeks.
The first thing you see is always the white blossom wonderland of the cherry trees because they bloom earlier. A bit later, the apple blossoms come and wash the whiteness with waves of pink.
To protect the blossoms from frost, the buds are sprinkled with water. The resulting layer of ice traps heat and protects the buds. This is a quaint sight to behold, like a winter wonderland.
The blossom period generally starts in the last week of April and lasts until the 10th of May. An exact date can never be specified because so much depends on the whims of Mother Nature.
