Summer in Altes Land

Summertime is cherry time

Altes Land is frequently visited in summertime as well, because freshly picked cherries can directly be bought from farmers at the roadside. There is also the opportunity to grab a harvest basket and pick the cherries yourself, directly from the tree. Especially famous and popular is a variety of cherries so called “Knubberkirschen”, they are extremely huge and thick and tasty.

There are a lot of things to do in summertime, not only for visitors, but also the farmers have a lot of work and need to trim the apple trees in order that they get enough sun, air and light to produce the most beautiful apples.

In summer, there are plenty of organ recitals to visit. If it is too warm for you in the sunshine, inside the church it is always pleasantly cold and at the same time you can experience some culture.
