Four seasons—one Altes Land
Discover Altes Land during all seasons
Altes Land has a particular charm in each season. Come and discover your favourite.
In spring, the apple and cherry blossoms wait to be discovered. The whole region glows with white and pink lights during blossoming of cherry and apple trees. Besides a lot of tourists, bee colonies move in as well to pollinate plenty of blossoms. Later on, cherries and apples emerge from these blossoms.
In summer you can see lots of fruit stands at the farmyards along the road which offer, besides berries and vegetables, above all, freshly picked cherries. During the “Kirschenwoche“ (a week of events about the cherry) in the first week of July, there is lots of hustle and bustle. And the dykes tempt to go for a walk, not only in summer.
Autumn is harvest season in Altes Land. Besides damsons and plums there are tons of delicious apples in different varieties, picked from the trees. The open-farm day invites guests to look behind the scenes.
It is cold in winter, that’s how it is. But with the appropriate dress you can experience a wonderful landscape appearing magically. The cities around invite you to visit the Christmas markets and even if you do not expect this, you can buy your Christmas tree on a fruit farm or fell your Christmas tree yourself.
